The Messages That Meant So Much
After sharing my story yesterday, I received messages from people all over.
Some told me they immediately backed up their family photos.
Others admitted they had ignored security warnings for months.
A few shared heartbreaking stories about losing accounts they had built over many years.
Reading those messages reminded me that I wasn’t alone.
More importantly, it reminded me that this experience wasn’t only about me.
If my story encourages even one person to protect their memories before something goes wrong, then sharing it was worth it.
What I’m Doing Differently Now
My account is still active today, and I’m incredibly thankful for that.
But I’m no longer relying on a single platform to hold the memories that matter most.
I’ve started organizing my photos in multiple places.
I’ve saved important conversations.
I’ve written down contact information for people I never want to lose touch with.
Most of all, I’ve promised myself that I won’t wait for another warning before taking action.
The Biggest Lesson I Learned
Sometimes life gives us a warning before it gives us a loss.
Not everyone is lucky enough to receive that warning.
Looking back, I almost feel grateful that this happened before it was too late.
It reminded me that memories aren’t valuable because they’re stored online.
They’re valuable because they represent the people, moments, and experiences that shaped who we are.
Those are the things truly worth protecting.
This Is Why I’ll Keep Writing Here
This experience changed the way I think about sharing my life.
Social media will always be a wonderful place to stay connected, but I’ve realized that some stories deserve a home where they can be shared more completely and preserved more intentionally.
