Classic Beef Lasagna: A Comforting Italian Favorite Recipe

Ingredients:
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 large onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 12 lasagna noodles, cooked according to package instructions
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned.
- Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the onions are translucent.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes and chopped basil. Season with salt and pepper. Let the sauce simmer for about 15 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, combine the ricotta cheese and egg. Mix until smooth.
- To assemble the lasagna, spread a layer of the beef sauce in the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish. Cover with a layer of lasagna noodles. Spread a layer of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by a sprinkle of mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. Repeat these layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of cheese on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
- Allow the lasagna to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
