Ingredients
- 1 bone-in fully cooked ham (about 10 pounds)
- 1/4 cup of brown sugar
- 1/4 cup of honey
- 2 tablespoons of Dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup of water
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C) and arrange a rack in the lower third of the oven.
- Prepare the ham: Place the ham on a rack in a roasting pan and score the surface of the ham in a diamond pattern.
- Make the glaze: In a small bowl, stir together the brown sugar, honey, Dijon mustard, cloves, and nutmeg.
- Bake the ham: Pour the water into the bottom of the roasting pan. Cover the ham with foil and bake it for about 2 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 140°F (60°C) on a meat thermometer.
- Glaze the ham: Remove the foil from the ham and brush the glaze over the surface. Increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C) and bake the ham for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the glaze is bubbly and caramelized.
- Rest and serve: Allow the ham to rest for 15 minutes before slicing and serving.
Tips
- If the water in the bottom of the roasting pan evaporates during cooking, add more as needed.
- Leftover ham can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week and used in sandwiches, soups, and other recipes.
