There Are Some Hugs That Never Grow Old — Brenda and Her Son
Some photographs don’t need a special occasion or a beautiful backdrop to mean something. Sometimes, one look at the smiles on two people’s faces is enough to tell you there are years of love behind that moment.
This is Brenda and her son.

In the photo, they’re sitting close together in a warm, cozy kitchen, wearing matching plaid shirts. Her son has his arm wrapped around her while Brenda leans toward him with a big, joyful smile.
On the table are just a few cookies and two warm drinks.
It looks like an ordinary moment.
But sometimes, the ordinary moments become the memories we treasure most.
When her son was little, Brenda was the one preparing his meals, worrying whenever he was sick, and waiting for him to come home. Like so many mothers, she spent years watching the little boy she loved grow up one day at a time.
And then, somehow, the years passed.
That little boy became a grown man. The shoulders that once needed his mother’s protection became strong enough to wrap around her and make her feel safe.
Brenda grew older, too. Her hair turned silver, and time left its gentle marks on her face.
But whenever mother and son were together, one thing seemed unchanged:
No matter how old a son becomes, in his mother’s heart, he will always be her little boy.
Brenda didn’t need an expensive gift to feel loved.
She didn’t need a holiday or a special celebration.
Sometimes happiness was simply having her son sit beside her, sharing a cup of coffee, remembering old stories, and laughing together like they had so many times before.
And for her son, that simple moment may have meant even more.
When we’re young, we often believe we have endless time with our parents. Life gets busy. There’s work to finish, families to care for, bills to pay, and a hundred other things demanding our attention.
Then one day, we look at our parents and realize they’ve grown older while we were busy growing up.
Suddenly, having coffee with Mom, listening to a story we’ve heard a hundred times, or simply putting an arm around her shoulders becomes something money could never buy.
That’s why this photograph is more than a picture of Brenda smiling beside her son.
It carries a simple reminder:
If your parents are still here, don’t wait for a special occasion to spend time with them.
Sit down and have that cup of coffee.
Listen to the story they’ve already told you countless times.
Take another picture.
And most importantly, give them one more hug.
Because years from now, you may discover that the ordinary afternoons you barely noticed were actually the days you would give anything to experience one more time.
