BRENDA’S LAUGHTER STILL LIVES ON
Some photographs seem ordinary when they’re taken. But years later, when someone in that picture is no longer with us, that simple photograph can become a priceless memory we never want to put away.
This old photo of Brenda is one of those pictures.

That day, Brenda was sitting beside someone close to her in a warm, familiar kitchen. Around them were all the ordinary sounds of a family gathering — conversations in the background, dishes on the table, and people moving in and out of the room.
But the first thing you notice is Brenda.
She was laughing.
Not the small, polite smile people give when someone points a camera at them. This was real, joyful laughter — the kind that makes you feel like you can almost hear it just by looking at the photograph.
The man beside her had his arm wrapped around her shoulders. Brenda held onto his arm as they sat close together, as though this were simply one of countless ordinary days they would always have.
Perhaps nobody in that room realized they should hold onto that moment a little longer.
Because when life is good, we tend to believe there will always be another tomorrow.
Another dinner.
Another gathering.
Another photograph.
Another chance to sit beside someone we love and laugh until our sides hurt.
But time never tells us which moment will be the last.
Today, Brenda is no longer with us.
The kitchen may still be there. The table may still be there. And those old photographs can still be opened and looked through whenever someone misses her.
But the woman with that beautiful, joyful laugh can no longer return to that chair.
And that is why this photograph has become so much more than a snapshot from an ordinary gathering.
It holds a little piece of Brenda.
A woman who laughed wholeheartedly.
A woman who loved.
A woman who sat close to the people who mattered to her.
A woman who unknowingly turned an ordinary day into the kind of memory someone would someday give almost anything to experience just one more time.
Perhaps that is what old photographs are meant to remind us:
Don’t save pictures only for birthdays, weddings, holidays, and special occasions.
Take pictures around the dinner table. Take pictures when everyone is wearing ordinary clothes. Capture the messy hair, the unplanned hugs, the silly moments, and especially the laughter nobody saw coming.
Because someday, the moments that seemed the least important may become the ones we treasure the most.
Brenda may be gone, but her laughter remains in this photograph.
And every time someone looks at it, Brenda is remembered as she once was — joyful, warm, and surrounded by people who cared about her.
Some people leave this world.
But the love they gave us, and the memories they left behind, don’t have to leave with them.
