12 oz pappardelle or wide egg noodles

1 lb spicy Italian sausage, casings removed

1 tbsp olive oil (if needed)

1 small onion, sliced

1 red bell pepper, sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

½ tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

½ cup dry red wine

1 (14.5 oz) can crushed tomatoes

Cook pasta in salted water according to package directions. Drain and set aside.

In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the Italian sausage until cooked through. Remove and set aside.
