Four Women, Two Photos, and a Lifetime Together
Some friendships aren’t measured by how often you see each other, but by how many years you’re still standing side by side.

The photo on top was taken when we were young. Back then, our hair was fuller, our smiles were carefree, and an entire lifetime stretched out ahead of us with no idea where it would lead.
Many years later, we stood together for another photo. Our hair had turned gray and time had left its mark on our faces, but one thing had barely changed: the way we smiled when we were together.
Between these two pictures are decades of life. There were marriages, children, joyful days, painful losses, and moments when it felt like life was pulling each of us in a different direction. There were seasons when we couldn’t see each other very often, but whenever we came back together, that familiar feeling was still there.
When we’re young, we often believe the people we love will always be around. It’s only when time starts moving faster than we ever expected that we realize growing older alongside someone is a very special gift.
When I look at these two photos, I don’t see age. I still see the young women we once were, living somewhere inside the women we are today. I see stories that can be understood with a single glance, memories that don’t need to be explained, and a friendship that has lasted through most of a lifetime.
If you still have a friend who has known you since those faraway years, call them. See them while you can. Take more pictures together.
Because sometimes, one day, two photographs placed side by side can tell the story of an entire lifetime without needing many words at all.
